We are dedicated to providing comprehensive Section 28 services to individuals and families across Maine. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for our clients through personalized and compassionate care, utilizing evidence-based practices and a multidisciplinary approach.
Internship Overview: Our internship programs are designed to offer hands-on experience and professional development in the behavioral health field. Interns at New Moon will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to meaningful projects that directly impact our clients and the mental well being of children in our state.
Students will gain practical experience in conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions under the guidance of licensed behavioral health professionals.
Receive mentorship from seasoned professionals who are dedicated to supporting your growth and development in the field. You will be required to take a Behavioral Health Professional course (if not already obtained), and this will be your base knowledge prior to being assigned a client.
Here at New Moon Behavioral Health we believe in rewarding our interns for their hard work with clients. Depending on experience levels, our interns are given a competitive hourly wage and will ultimately walk away with hands-on experience along with stronger interpersonal skills.
Learn about the intricacies of Section 28 services and its impact on mental health treatment in Maine. Engage in collaborative meetings and case discussions with our interdisciplinary team to enhance your understanding of treatment approaches. We have several networking opportunities for our interns, as they will be working with different behavioral health professionals throughout their rotation, increasing their exposure to the field and different client cases.
We welcome all applicants from newer students to recent graduates who are passionate about behavioral health and eager to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to learning and professional growth.
Internship durations and schedules are flexible to accommodate academic requirements and individual needs. Depending on your school, our Full Moon internship program can count towards your school's credit. Interns typically commit to a minimum of 10-20 hours per week over 3 months. We’ll be happy to work with you on your individual schedule so you receive the experience you deserve.
To apply for our internship program, please submit a resume and cover letter outlining your interest in behavioral health and Section 28 services. Qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview. Please submit your application via our internship portal below.
Our Eclipse program consists of shadowing a behavioral health professional, observing their technique, and testing out the field to see if it’s something you may want to study, or learn more about. This program is shorter than the Full Moon program, and is typically tailored to the student and their educational needs.
Our Full Moon program is a 12-week paid internship or co-op program consisting of more hours, built for all students who are already Behavioral Health Professionals or are looking to be certified and placed in the field with a client.
We love our clients, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
