The behavioral health professional (BHP) delivering services under Section 28 RCS-Rehabilitative and Community Support Services is part of a service team that assists the child and their families in reaching the child's goals as described on their treatment plan. The services are designed to retain or improve functional abilities. All Behavioral Health Professionals at New Moon Behavioral Health are expected to attend monthly training in office and weekly supervisions regardless of level.
Training is available to these individuals on a more one on one basis to ensure they are understanding the policies and have the support that they need. These BHP's will be paired up with a higher level BHP to be able to ask questions and ocmpelte more shadow shifts if indicated. Upon successful completion of the Behavioral Health Professional Certification course these BHPs will be promoted to level 2.
These BHPs may or may not have experience int he field of Section 28, but hold education or experience in a related field. Training and support will be offered to these BHPs on a one on one basis regardless of the reason they were promoted to this level. Training will be individualized to the needs of the BHP. In order to be promoted to Level 3 the BHP needs to either possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field and the BHP Certification or be reccommeneded by their program manager for promotion to Level 3.
Level 3 BHPs should have solid experience providing Section 28 Services. They have an understanding of all agency and Mainecare policies and are role models for new BHPs coming into the field. They are often used as trainers for shadow shifts for new BHPs and considered first for promotions within the company, when available.
